Yom HaShoah Remembrance Concert

April 5, 2007 – FORT WAYNE, IN. The Heartland Chamber Chorale will present a Yom HaShoah remembrance concert on Sunday April 15, 2007 at 4:00PM, the Jewish National Day of Remembrance of the Holocaust, Martyrs, and Heroism. This concert – free and open to the public – will be held at First Wayne Street United Methodist Church in downtown Fort Wayne.

An important component of the Heartland Chamber Chorale is the ensemble’s ongoing Community Outreach effort, striving to build bridges and change lives through choral music. Yom Hashoah is the Jewish National Day of Remembrance for the souls lost during the Holocaust. Music Director Robert Nance will lead the Chorale in a performance of A Holocaust Cantata by Don McCullough, based on authentic music and letters written by prisoners in German concentration camps during WWII. The Cantata features the Chorale accompanied by pianist Dale Tucker and cellist Lori Morgan. Letters will be recited by Manuel Silverman, Aaron Bradley, Julia Goodall, Scott McMeen, MaryJo Meyer, Marcia Reynolds, Michael Spath, Mark Stachofsky, and Leslie Gubitz.

This highly acclaimed and emotionally stirring work will be presented in one performance only: Sunday April 15 at 4:00pm in the sanctuary of First Wayne Street United Methodist Church (300 E Wayne St in downtown Fort Wayne). A freewill offering will be accepted to benefit educational outreach programs of the Fort Wayne Jewish Federation.

The program concludes with several selections featuring Snider High School Choir, one of the choirs participating in HCC’s Side by Side educational initiative in 2006-07. The songs performed are dedicated to the memory of those we remember today.
